At Tessa’s House, treatment is not based on a fixed timeline—it is based on each woman’s individual needs, progress, and readiness for change.

While most residents stay approximately 30–45 days, our focus is on helping each woman build the stability, skills, and support system needed for lasting recovery.

Our program is guided by the ASAM (American Society of Addiction Medicine) Level 3.5 model, which ensures comprehensive, clinically appropriate care across all areas of a woman’s life.

Peer Recovery Support

Recovery extends beyond the conclusion of treatment. We facilitate connections between residents and established peer recovery organizations, including AA, NA, and Al-Anon, to ensure they establish a robust and enduring support network that will uphold their sobriety well after departing from our care.

Treatment

Treatment is based on a 4-Phase Model and driven by the ASAM 4th Edition. Residents are provided with 25 hours of treatment groups each week as well as individual therapy. We strongly encourage family partiicpation.

Environment and Campus

Located on eleven private acres in Washington, Maine, Tessa’s House offers a peaceful, rural setting where residents can step away from daily pressures and focus on healing. Shared living spaces, comfortable bedrooms, and access to nature create a calm, restorative environment.

Who We Serve

Tessa’s House serves adult women (18+) experiencing substance use disorders, including those with co-occurring mental health needs. We welcome women from across Maine and beyond who are seeking a structured, supportive residential setting to begin or strengthen their recovery.

A Research-Driven Approach to Lasting Recovery

No single treatment approach is sufficient on its own. Studies show that a multimodal, integrated strategy—combining intensive treatment, outpatient care, peer support, and holistic wellness—leads to the highest long-term recovery rates for women facing substance use challenges.

At Tessa’s House, we don’t just offer treatment—we offer a pathway to lasting change. Through compassionate care, comprehensive support, and evidence-based practices, we help women reclaim their lives, restore hope, and build a future filled with possibility.

Because every woman deserves a chance to heal, thrive, and shine.

Even the smallest steps forward are part of the journey toward transformation.
