Our Program

Pillars of Recovery

Program Services & Daily Structure

What actually happens here every day?

  • Comprehensive intake and assessment
  • Individual and group therapy including evidenced-based modalities like dialectical and cognitive behavioral therapy
  • Substance use and relapse-prevention groups
  • Life skills and coping skills
  • Wellness and self-care groups
  • Case management and discharge/aftercare planning
  • Medication management / coordination with medical providers

During the 30-day stay, residents participate in a structured daily schedule that may include individual counseling, therapeutic groups, recovery meetings, wellness activities, and time for reflection and rest. Each resident collaborates with staff to create a personalized recovery plan and aftercare strategy.

Peer Recovery Support

Recovery extends beyond the conclusion of treatment. We facilitate connections between residents and established peer recovery organizations, including AA, NA, and Al-Anon, to ensure they establish a robust and enduring support network that will uphold their sobriety well after departing from our care.

Comprehensive Continuum of Care

Whenever appropriate, we encourage healthy family involvement and collaboration with community providers. From the first week of admission, staff work with each resident to create an aftercare plan that may include outpatient treatment, recovery housing, peer support, or other community resources to support long-term recovery.

Environment and Campus

Located on eleven private acres in Washington, Maine, Tessa’s House offers a peaceful, rural setting where residents can step away from daily pressures and focus on healing. Shared living spaces, comfortable bedrooms, and access to nature create a calm, restorative environment.

Who We Serve

Tessa’s House serves adult women (18+) experiencing substance use disorders, including those with co-occurring mental health needs. We welcome women from across Maine and beyond who are seeking a structured, supportive residential setting to begin or strengthen their recovery.

A Research-Driven Approach to Lasting Recovery

No single treatment approach is sufficient on its own. Studies show that a multimodal, integrated strategy—combining intensive treatment, outpatient care, peer support, and holistic wellness—leads to the highest long-term recovery rates for women facing substance use challenges.

At Tessa’s House, we don’t just offer treatment—we offer a pathway to lasting change. Through compassionate care, comprehensive support, and evidence-based practices, we help women reclaim their lives, restore hope, and build a future filled with possibility.

Because every woman deserves a chance to heal, thrive, and shine.

Even the smallest steps forward are part of the journey toward transformation.
